Audrey Winters: Being Different

I have always fit into the mold. Human: quiet, kind, responsible. The kind of wife a man wanted. Vampire: responsible, cool-headed, successful. The kind of leader my people needed.
My name is Audrey Winters and it is not my story that my writer, The Creator, will tell. It is Irina Mondragon's.
Irina is not like me. She does not fit the mold. And I think, as is the case with most people, that scares her.
We live in a society where we are taught that to be different is a flaw. To be like everyone is flawless.
What a mistake that is. Because flaws are what make us who we are. Because flaws become strengths and beauty and we rely on them to make us independent of society. More than just another face.
And isn't that a beautiful thought? That things like recklessness can be bravery and things like cowardice can be caution.
I guess, truth be told, ordinary and normalcy are myths. I do not fit the mold anymore than Irina or anyone else. Because there is no mold.
So, to you, readers, I say: Stop trying.
